Ted Wang
Ted is a board partner with Cowboy, helping our portfolio companies to grow and thrive. In addition to his work at Cowboy, Ted is the founder of Stoked Advisors, an executive coaching service dedicated to helping founders and other executives reach their full potential.
Prior to Cowboy, Ted was recognized as one of the country’s leading technology lawyers working with a number of top startup companies such as Facebook, Twitter, Dropbox, Square, Zuora and Gusto. Enthusiastic and intellectually curious, Ted’s passion is sharing the learnings from his career with entrepreneurs.
Ted is a Duke Blue Devil, a wandering traveler, a DJ for old people who still like to dance, a low skill but high energy outdoorsman, and an overly emotionally committed local sports fan. Ted is also active in the community, particularly around the areas of mental health and homelessness. He has two children, a patient and understanding wife, and the perfect dog named Hank.
Amanda Robson
Amanda (better known as “Robby”) loves working with passionate founders who have become experts in their space. She works with enterprise companies broadly, but focuses on innovations in software infrastructure across developer tools, data and analytics, and security.
She has a passion for open source companies and co-hosts the Open Source Startup Podcast where she’s interviewed 70+ open source founders on how they started, monetized, and scaled their companies.
Robby is the proud founder of Modern Angels - a community and database of 200+ female and non-binary angel investors. She also co-leads the VC Champions program for All Raise, and co-chairs NextGen Partners, an organization that helps up-and-coming investors get the support and access they need to be successful.
Like many Canadians, Amanda loves the outdoors! She also loves music (particularly live) and went to college at the Ivey Business School at Western University where her favorite activity was poking at business strategies and tech trends as Editor-in-Chief of the student business magazine the Ivey Business Review.
Robby was on the Forbes 2021 30 Under 30 list for Venture Capital and has been profiled by TechCrunch, Insider, and Canadian Business Magazine.
Jillian Williams
Jillian loves working with passionate individuals who are obsessed with the problems and inefficiencies that face our society. Jillian is a fintech nerd and loves to explore the intersection of financial technology and all other sectors. She spends her time across B2B and B2C fintech, and vertical SaaS more broadly.
Prior to joining Cowboy, Jillian was an investor at Anthemis, an early-stage fintech focused venture firm, focused across North America and Europe. Jillian worked closely with companies across the spectrum of fintech such as Pipe, Power, Maxwell, and Truelayer. She also led the launch of the Female Innovators Lab, Anthemis’ venture studio in partnership with Barclays that supports female founders.
Jillian graduated from Yale with a BA in Economics. She also serves as the head of BLCK VC NYC, the NY arm of BLCK VC, a non-profit with the goal of doubling the number of Black investors by 2024.
Jillian was Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2022, Crain's New York 40 Under 40 in 2021, and listed as VCs to know in NY by Business Insider.
Ryan Stroub
Ryan loves working with early-stage companies, helping them add structure, processes and financial disciplines that allow them to scale effectively and efficiently.
Prior to joining Cowboy, Ryan was CFO at software company, FortressIQ, prior to its acquisition by Automation Anywhere. He spent over twenty years in financial services as CFO of Thomas Weisel Partners and SharesPost and as Controller for E*TRADE.
Ryan graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a BA in Economics, emphasis in Accounting, and yes, having grown up in Monterey and Santa Barbara, he does still occasionally surf.
